Natural remedies for wasp stings

It stings and it hurts, these wasp stings! And once bitten, you don't always know what to do to treat yourself. To soothe those wasp stings, without resorting to creams containing chemicals, here is a small selection of natural remedies.

Summer is here with the program for walks, picnics, but also the presence of wasps. Very painful, but generally harmless, their bite should still be treated very quickly. This summer, adopt our 7 natural remedies for wasp stings.

  • Lavender essential oil

Also recommended for jellyfish stings or burns, lavender essential oil, known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, is formidable for relieving a wasp sting, thanks to its antivenom. In addition, it promotes healing and regeneration of the skin. Lavender essential oil, however, can be allergenic in some people. Aspic lavender essential oil is therefore not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for young children. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

How to use it?

Apply 1 to 2 drops of lavender essential oil directly to the bite. Dab gently every 15 seconds for 2-3 minutes, then every 15 minutes for 2 hours. Renew the application the following days at the rate of 4 applications per day.

  • Pure vinegar

In the event of a wasp sting, the pure vinegar will neutralize the alkaline agent of the sting thanks to its acidity.

How to use it?

Pour a teaspoon of pure vinegar in a glass of water before soaking the painful area with this mixture. You can also soak the liquid in a compress and dab the bite for a few minutes.

  • Onion or garlic

Because they contain enzymes that act on wasp venom, garlic and onion are effective natural remedies for relieving wasp sting pain.

How to use it?

Cut the onion into slices or crush the garlic and rub on the bite.

  • Tea tree essential oil

Like lavender essential oil, tea tree essential oil is found to be effective in relieving pain and reducing swelling from the sting. However, its use is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.

How to use it?

Apply a drop of tea tree directly to the bite. Repeat the gesture every 3 minutes until improvement.

  • Papaya

Containing papain, a proteolytic enzyme, papaya helps neutralize wasp venom.

How to use it?

Cut the papaya into slices. Place one on the bite for an hour.

  • Aloe Vera

Recognized medicinal plant, aloe Vera has excellent properties: it is particularly viricidal, bactericidal and astringent.

How to use it?

Apply a little aloe Vera directly to the bite and let it dry.

  • Honey

Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, honey has proven itself as a natural remedy. It is also a very effective product in case of wasp sting.
