What is eucalyptus globulus essential oil used for in cosmetics?
The essential oil of eucalyptus globulus ( eucalyptus globulus ) is antiseptic, antiviral and anti-inflammatory 1 . One of its active compounds, cineol (or eucalyptol) eliminates a fungus called Pityrosporum, which is partly responsible for dandruff, thus giving this oil anti-dandruff properties 2 . A study carried out in 2012 3 moreover precisely shed light on these properties. In addition, its refreshing fragrance would help fight against stress and fatigue, two factors favoring the formation of dandruff.
How to use eucalyptus globulus essential oil to reduce dandruff?
To fight against dandruff, eucalyptus globulus essential oil can be used diluted in vegetable oil and then applied to the scalp by massaging it before shampooing.
You can also add a few drops of this essential oil to your shampoo dose and leave for a few minutes.
Other anti-dandruff essential oils can be used in synergy to strengthen anti-dandruff care: essential oil of tea tree ( melaleuca alternifolia ), cineole rosemary ( rosmanirus officinalis ) or Atlas cedar ( Cedar atlantica ) .
