Some herbs are real beauty experts. These four give skin and hair a new shine - with our recipes the herbal cure is very easy.
Soothing lavender , refreshing mint , soothing chamomile - when we make herbal cosmetics ourselves , we benefit from the natural beauty talents of garden herbs. Each herb has its own strengths - a brief overview.
Lavender for beautiful skin
The medicinal plant with the purple flowers is the most natural sedative of all. But it not only has a positive effect on our nerves, but also on our skin. For example, it relieves irritation and at the same time stimulates blood circulation, which makes it suitable for the care of dry, sensitive skin. Perfect for a lavender moisturizing mask!
The recipe : Mix about 1 tablespoon of moisturizing cream with 1 tablespoon of fresh or dried lavender flowers and spread thickly on the face. Remove after approx. 20 minutes with a cosmetic tissue.
Chamomile: herbal cosmetics for the hair
Its white-yellow flowers grow in fields and on the roadside until autumn: the chamomile is a must for anyone who likes to make herbal cosmetics themselves . It is worthwhile to stock up, because the plant is a small all-rounder when it comes to beauty: It clears blemished skin, prevents wrinkles and is also great for lightening blonde hair or stimulating hair growth. Both work wonderfully with chamomile rinsing.
The recipe : Boil 1 handful of dried chamomile flowers in approx. 500 ml of water and let it steep for 15 minutes. Pour the cooled liquid over your head after shampooing, do not rinse again. This lightens blonde hair slightly.
Parsley for a fresh complexion
The herb is full of valuable vitamins and minerals! Above all, the high content of vitamins A and E is good against impurities and makes the complexion glow. For example, a cleaning oil that also helps with make-up removal is ideal.
The recipe : Put 1/2 cup of freshly chopped parsley with 1/8 l each of olive and almond oil and 50 g of lanolin (in the pharmacy) in a jar and let it steep for a week. Then filter, heat briefly and fill into a dark bottle.
Herbal cosmetics made from mint
Whether in shower gel, shampoo or body lotion - mint extract is an indispensable part of herbal cosmetics . It has a cooling effect that is very invigorating. By the way, peppermint balances oily skin. As a foot bath, it is also a perfect pick-me-up!
The recipe : fill a large bowl with approx. 32 degrees warm water, add 1 cup of fresh mint, 2 tablespoons of sea salt, juice of 1 lemon and bathe your feet in it for 10 minutes. This makes dry skin nice and soft!
