Essential oils against digestive problems
Nausea, constipation, diarrhea… so many ailments that affect daily life. Strong of their many properties, several essential oils used alone or in synergy can relieve them. PasseportSanté covers the various digestive disorders and their aromatic remedies.
- Aromatherapy to relieve diarrhea
The diarrhea is a common symptom that often caused the ingestion of contaminated water or food. It can last 1 or 2 days and go away without requiring treatment, but it is very bothersome and can prevent you from doing outdoor activities.
The essential oil of cinnamon ( Cinnamomum zeylanicum ) stimulates the digestive system and can relieve indigestion, colic and diarrhea. It can be used in a bath or massage oil 1 or internally by diluting a drop in a teaspoon of honey or in a glass of hot non-boiling water 2 . It can also be used externally, massaging the abdomen.
The essential oil of ginger ( zingiber officinalis ) would also relieve colic and diarrhea. It can be used externally: 2 drops diluted in a tablespoon of vegetable oil, massaged on the stomach in a clockwise direction.
Beyond the aromatic treatment, it is essential to drink plenty of water because diarrhea dehydrates.
