How to select a quality essential oil?
The production conditions will directly influence the quality of essential oils and essences. This is why the choice of an essential oil is an essential step to ensure the therapeutic virtues of the product.
First of all, favor artisanal rather than industrial production . The latter increases the pressure level of the distillation in order to decrease the production time. The biochemical molecules are thus, in part, deteriorated. However, they guarantee the therapeutic virtues of essential oils. It is this biochemical combination which ensures for example the cutaneous, respiratory and antiseptic virtues of the Tea Tree ( Melaleuca Alternifolia Terpineoliferum )
Secondly, choosing organic (essential oil from organic production) guarantees, in most cases, respect for the production method, without fertilizers or pesticides. These compounds will therefore not end up on your skin or in your lungs. It is however important to specify that many small quality producers do not have the financial means to offer organic essential oils. These then offer quality products not stamped organic. In addition, some essential oils can never be certified organic because they are picked in the wild and not cultivated. Conversely, a so-called “wild” plant is not necessarily of high quality (some border highways for example).
The mention "100% natural" does not mean certified organic production. It just means that the essential oils are not diluted or altered. On the other hand, the legislative framework on the term "natural" simply requires that the product contains less than 30% of synthetic molecules.
The words "100% pure" : means that the essential oil is neither diluted nor cut with another component or another essential oil.
The term "complete" or "whole" means that the plant has been distilled long enough to recover all of its aromatic molecules.
